Cultural
Resource Assistant
Experienced
archaeologists,
both amateur and
professional,
are needed to
volunteer for
on-going research
at
the Weedon Island
Preserve Cultural
and Natural History
Center. These
select volunteers
will assist in
the analysis of
cultural materials,
enter data into
spreadsheets and
databases, assist
staff with special
programs, and
help monitor sites.

Public
Hike Guide
Enjoy the outdoors
as you guide public
hikes at Weedon
Island Preserve.
Each Saturday the
Center offers this
personalized experience to the public.
Guides and substitute
guides are also
needed for special
interest hikes.
Working in teams
of two, guides
take the public
along designated
routes in the
Preserve, including
a scenic boardwalk
and tower hike
through mangrove
forests. Training
is provided. If
you are interested

Preserve
Maintenance
If outdoor
maintenance appeals
to you, volunteer
opportunities are
numerous. Volunteers
are needed to blaze
trails for the
hike and canoe
trails, to help
eliminate exotic
vegetation, such
as Australian
pine and Brazilian
pepper, and to
help beautify
Weedon Island
Preserve. Training
on tool use and
lightweight vehicles
is provided. Please
