Facility Rentals
Weedon Island Preserve Cultural and Natural History Center offers rental opportunities for businesses, corporations, organizations, and private individuals by reservation. For more information, call us at (727) 453-6500 and ask to be transferred to the Environmental Education Coordinator.

Procedures and Fees
Reservations

  • Only reservations made at least three weeks in advance will be considered.
  • Reservations are on a first come, first served basis.
  • To make a reservation, call (727) 453-6500 and ask for the Environmental Education Coordinator.

Rental Fees

  • Total fees include the rental fee + services + sales tax
  • 50% of the rental fee is due 30 days prior to the reservation
  • Rental balance is due 15 days prior to the reservation
  • A Facility Rental License Agreement must be completed to secure reservation

Cancellations/Refunds

  • 100% refund up to 15 days prior to date
  • No refund if cancelled within 14 days of the date or for no-shows
  • Refunds may take 4-6 weeks to process

Security/Damage Deposit

  • A $250 Security/Damage Deposit is required prior to the reservation.
  • The room will be inspected by staff before and after the rental.
  • Rental space must be left in the condition it was received.
  • Refund of the Security/Damage Deposit, less any charges resulting from damage or misuse of the facility or other charges, may take 4-6 weeks to process.

Food

  • Food is permitted.
  • Advanced approval by Pinellas County Government is required for all catering services.
    • Approval requires the caterer provide Pinellas County with proof of limited liability insurance coverage and Workers' Compensation information. Ask us for details.
  • Serving tables are placed in designated areas only.
  • Caterers are responsible for setup and clean up.

Alcohol

  • Alcohol is not permitted.

Rules
General Rules

  • Advance coordination with the Environmental Educational Coordinator is required for:
    • All vendors associated with the rental - client must provide a list
    • Site visits and deliveries by client/vendors - must be scheduled
    • Setup information - minimum two weeks prior to date
  • Strictly prohibited:
    • Open flames, including candles
    • Weapons, simulated or real
    • Alcoholic beverages, unless prior written approval received
    • Tacking, nailing, taping or adhering in any other fashion, visual aides to Center walls
    • Smoking
  • Prior approval required for:
    • Exclusive use of public areas, such as the exhibit hall
    • Use of non-County laptops
    • Center catering supplies
      • Coffee and carafes
      • Serving utensils
  • Cleanup and Recycling
    • Garbage:
      • Client is responsible for depositing garbage generated from the event in the Center's dumpster. If garbage is excessive, it must be transported offsite and disposed of properly and legally by/at the client or caterer's expense.
    • Recycling:
      • Deposit plastic items and aluminum cans in the containers provided. If recycling is excessive, it must be transported offsite by/at the client or caterer's expense.
    • Spills/Damage/Malfunctions:
      • Please report any spills or malfunctions to the Facility Rental Coordinator immediately.

Center Condition

  • Upon departure, all items brought by the client and their caterer must be removed.
  • Clients and their caterers must leave the Center facilities in the original condition.

Parking

  • Advise the Environmental Education Coordinator of expected attendance and parking needs.
  • Vehicles are allowed only in designated parking areas.
  • Handicapped parking is available.
  • For groups larger than 50, designate someone to greet attendees and direct them to the meeting area.
