Interpretive Trail
The Interpretive Trail at Weedon Island Preserve opened in May
2007. The goal of this cooperative program is to help visitors
learn about the importance of coastal ecosystems. Using this
knowledge, people are better prepared to make informed decisions
about these resources.
Specific objectives of the Interpretive Trail
Program include:
- Helping visitors understand their role
in the local environment.
- Inspiring visitors to explore the Preserve and
discover the beauty of the natural areas that surround
Tampa Bay.
- Helping visitors understand how healthy ecosystems
can benefit everyone.
- Increasing individual stewardship of Pinellas County's
natural resources by empowering visitors to become
involved in local environmental legislation.
- Illustrating the restoration and conservation efforts
in place to restore the Tampa Bay watershed.
- Informing visitors about specific species in this
coastal ecosystem.
