Guided hikes and canoe trips are great ways to discover Weedon Island Preserve. Come make your own memory and experience "A Place to Remember" through our guided interpretive hikes and tours.

Saturday Guided Hikes
Weedon Island Preserve is a wonderful example of how nature can persevere throughout a 2,000-year history of human presence on the island. The natural world and humans are permanently linked here, and evidence of this is easily seen through our various hike programs. Guided hikes through coastal mangrove and upland ecosystems of the Preserve are held each Saturday of the month. Experienced volunteers lead guided hikes for the general public that examine the best of our cultural and environmental attributes. These weekly-guided hikes are free.

Guided Nature Hike Information
Hikers will meet by the first floor patio of the Center 10 minutes before the 9:00 a.m. start time. We strongly suggest all hikers visit the restroom before we begin.

• Guided hikes are three (3) miles long; two (2) miles are on unimproved, uneven terrain.
• Hikes take about two (2) hours to complete.
• Participants will have the option to limit the hike to the boardwalk only.
• Please wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes, sneakers or boots.
• Insect repellent (bug spray) is strongly recommended.
• Bring plenty of drinking water and a snack.
• A hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen are also recommended.
• Pets are not permitted.
• No smoking is allowed on Preserve trails and boardwalks.
• Trained volunteers will guide the hike.
• Need to cancel? Please call us by 2:00 p.m. on the Friday before your scheduled hike.
