Weedon Island Preserve Cultural and Natural History
Center is a satellite campus of the Osher Lifelong
Learning Institute (OLLI) at Eckerd College.
OLLI programs
were created to provide life enrichment opportunities
for active adults. Participants are introduced to
the resources of the Weedon Island Preserve through
a four-part series held in the fall designed to combine
the rich cultural history with the natural surroundings of the Preserve. Each class
is four hours long and includes a classroom lecture
and discussion, lunch, and an interactive field activity.

Tampa Bay Estuary Program - Estuary Academy
Join us every fall for a fun-filled and educational
day of lectures and workshops sponsored by the Tampa
Bay Estuary Program and Weedon Island Preserve Cultural
and Natural History Center. The Academy's mission
is to introduce citizens to the wealth of scientific
research currently conducted on, in and under Tampa
Bay. The $15 registration fee includes lunch, goody
bags, fabulous speakers, and a choice of terrific,
hands-on workshops. Participants explore the microscopic
life beneath the Bay, scoop up and identify the creatures
found in seagrass beds, or take guided canoe tours
to learn about the Preserve's diverse ecology.
The Academy has something for everyone! Check our
calendar for the next Estuary Academy.
